IELTS

IELTS – The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration. There are two IELTS tests available – IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training. The test you choose should be based on what it is you want to do.

IELTS Academic – measures whether your level of English language proficiency is suitable for an academic environment. It reflects aspects of academic language and evaluates whether you are ready to begin training or studying.

IELTS General Training – measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and tests reflect both workplace and social situations.

Course Objectives

You will get an objective assessment of your English language abilities. Maybe your friends have told you that you speak English well, or perhaps you always do well in quizzes at school. You will improve your English language skills. Some students tend to favor certain skills over others. When you take an IELTS test, you are tested in all four skills, that is, Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, so you’ll need to practice them all if you want to do well.

Topics

The test has four sections:

Listening- 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes
Speaking – interview, 11-14 minutes
Reading- different for Academic or General Training – 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
Writing- different for Academic or General Training – 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes
